Acupuncture needles are hair thin, sterile needles, that are placed at specific points on the body.  Treatments are 99% pain free, and most patients report a calming effect throughout and after each treatment.

Acupuncture activates the body’s energy and promotes natural healing by enhancing recuperative power, immunity, and physical and emotional health.  It’s a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical problems.

        How Does It Work?

  1. 1)Fascia:  Acupuncture needles can change the electrical potential of the  connective tissue which is distributed throughout our bodies. This fascia communicates information to our organs, muscle, bones, and ligaments resulting in increased circulation to areas of weakness or pain.

  1. 2)Nervous System: Acupuncture points are located at specific nerve bundles that connect to the peripheral nervous system.

  1. 3)Meridians:  In Traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians, or lines of energy flow from our organs to every part of our body.  The acupuncture needles can tonify deficient meridians, or subdue overactive ones  to bring the body back into balance.

4)Cell Communication:  Specific cells have an affinity or relationship with other parts of our body.  When an area of our body is weak, for instance the Spleen, then it is possible to needle points on the foot to remind the body that it needs to send more blood and energy to that area.  Since the cells are damaged by the needle, the body will send it’s own healing potential to all the cells that share that same energetic connection to each other.

Oriental Medicine

Herbal Medicinals

Chinese herbs are uniquely prescribed to each individual in regards to the nature of their complaint and their individual constitution.  Formulas are usually made of up between 5 to 12 herbs which are combined in a manner to bring the body into balance with minimal side-effects.

Our herbal programs for acute disorders can last between a few days to 3 months.  For chronic conditions the program is usually 3 months to a year.

Moxabustion

Moxabustion is the burning of a specific herb, artemesia, on an acupuncture point.  It is a comfortable procedure that produces warmth deeply into an area.

This is used to produce different therapeutic effects than a needle. It works through a specific spectrum of infrared radiation produced by the herb, which transmits through the body from the acupuncture points to internal organs or injured area.
